VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT(Project coordinator KENYA)

Position: Field Coordinator – Peace Winds Japan (PWJ), Kenya
Location of work: Kakuma and Kalobeyei, Kenya
Direct supervisor: Head of Mission, PWJ Kenya

Peace Winds Japan (PWJ) – Kenya opened the office in Nairobi in 2012 and has been supporting refugees from neighbouring countries in Dadaab, Kakuma and Kalobeyei in Kenya providing shelters and latrines funded by the Japanese Government and UN Agencies such as UNHCR, UNHabitat, IOM.

In Kakuma camps and Kalobeyei settlement, PWJ has been vigorously engaged in promoting sustainable solutions for protracted refugee situation through its shelter and sanitation projects upon launching of Kalobeyei Integrated Socio-Economic Development Programme (KISEDP) in 2018.

Currently the organization is funded by UNHCR and Japan Platform to serve the refugees and the host communities and interested in recruiting a “Project coordinator” who would monitor these projects. The position requires the following responsibility to undertake.

Principal responsibilities
 Making reports for Government of Japan and Japanese donors in Japanese language
 Writing PR articles in Japanese and shooting short movies for Japanese supporters
 Supervising project officers and admin/finance officers for implementation of the project and running the offices.
 Assisting Head of Mission in raising funds from international donors, including Japanese donors.
 Ensuring all the activities are in according to the laws and regulations of the Republic of Kenya.

Tasks in details
 Responsible for ensuring that project activities funded by Japanese donors comply with the requirement of donors.
 Informing and updating the progress of the project and financial situation to Head of Mission.
 Making project progress reports and financial reports regularly to Head of Mission and relevant authorities.
 Supporting publication activities by providing both documents and photos related to projects.
 Supporting project staff in project implementation.
 Supporting admin/finance staff in administrative and finance issues.
 Providing necessary advice to all the staff members.

Knowledge and experience required
 At least of 3 years of relevant experience and knowledge in emergency humanitarian work, rehabilitation and development projects.
 Computer literate.
 Fluent in Japanese and English – both spoken and written.
 Sufficient experience and knowledge in funding scheme of Japanese donors.
 Excellent communication skills.
 Honest, responsible and in good physical condition to meet the job’s demands.
 Willingness to adhere to and carry out Peace Winds Japan rules and regulations.
