Funding from USAID for “WEST JAPAN FLOODS” and “HOKKAIDO EARTHQUAKE”

[WEST JAPAN FLOODS]

With funding from USAID, Peace Winds Japan (PWJ) delivered relief items (bedding sets, kitchen items, and clothing) to more than 800 individuals in West Japan from July to October 2018.

“The victims lost everything they had to the floods – their homes, furniture, and sentimental items. USAID funding enabled a quick response and we were able to deliver necessary items to those in real need in a timely manner. Many beneficiaries could not hold back their tears when they received the relief items.” – Ms. Saori Moriguchi, Project Coordinator (pictured right).

PWJ is also providing logistics support to assist local emergency response and early recovery activities carried out by the municipalities – eight rental cars and temporary trailer offices were provided to the town of Atsuma.
